Although college can be very frightening, it can also be an incredible experience. The following guide has tricks and tips that you could use in order to graduate from college. When you mix what you read here with advice from your loved ones, youll be prepared for anything!

Try and keep a part-time job throughout your college career; as tough as it may be to balance work and studies, the extra money, you make can make a big difference. If you have a huge amount of money to pay back once you are finished, life will be much more difficult after graduation so try and work your way through it.

Read the course syllabus first thing. The syllabus will tell you when your instructor is available to answer questions and provide extra help. You will quickly see what will be expected of you in the course. The syllabus tells you what your instructor wants you to learn, and thus how to prepare for tests.

Gather all the materials you need for a test before the testing time. Before you leave your dorm, check that you have your calculator, textbook, notes, or any other supplies you made need. Be sure to bring all of your own supplies. You cannot expect your teacher to have an extra for you.

Visit the dorm before deciding to live there. You may discover that you dont want to live in that environment. Not only that, but you may find that you prefer one dorm over the other. Make sure you will get the choice you signed up for, and make sure you have a contingency plan in place if you chose a single room but end up in a quad.

Eat breakfast before taking a test. A fruit, a yogurt and some toast is all you need to remain focused. Many times, an empty stomach can be distracting to you and those around you. Low energy and a noisy stomach can affect your testing abilities, so make sure you eat to stay energized and focused.

Exercise

Rise and shine at an early hour. This doesnt mean waking up at 4 AM, but if you get up at 6 or 7 AM, you will have time to get a good breakfast in, maybe some exercise, and even some study time that you might have missed out on.

If you are in class and find yourself bored out of your mind, do yourself a favor and stay until it ends. Often times college kids exercise their right to leave whenever they want but you never know when you will miss some truly important information. So make sure to attend every class in its entirety.

Get serious about exercise. Exercise is something that many students dont get enough of. Because weight gain is so normal in college freshmen especially, you have to make the time to get a small workout in so you can stay slim and fit. Think about jogging or using the campus pool to do your workouts.

Nutrition

Every freshman should understand and realize that the freshman 15 does in fact exist. It is important that everyone take the necessary steps to ensure that they are getting proper nutrition during their first year in college. While it might be tempting to pile on some fries for dinner every night, youll pay for it in the long run.

College is a mix of hard work and fun, so keep this in mind. Just focus on the light at the end of the tunnel and all of your hard work will soon pay off when you step off that stage with a diploma in your hand.
